Legal
Terms of Service
Last updated: May 2026
These are binding terms. Please read them carefully. By using Finatha, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Finatha (the "Service") is operated by an independent operator based in the State of Qatar (the "Operator", "we", "us", "our"). Until a successor entity is registered, the Operator is an individual, [Operator Legal Name], with a business correspondence address at [Operator Address], Doha, Qatar.
We will incorporate a Finatha company in due course. When we do, we will assign these Terms and our agreement with you to that company on at least 14 days' notice via email or in-app notification. From the effective date of that assignment, references in these Terms to "the Operator" mean the new company. You consent to that assignment in advance.
For legal queries: legal@finatha.app. For privacy queries: privacy@finatha.app. For abuse: abuse@finatha.app.
2. About the Service
Finatha is a personal financial planning tool. It helps you organise information about your own finances, accounts, income, goals, bills, debts, and remittances, so you can make more informed decisions.
Finatha is not a bank, broker, money transmitter, payment institution, electronic money institution, investment adviser, financial adviser, tax adviser, fiduciary, custodian, or any kind of regulated financial services provider. Nothing on Finatha constitutes financial, investment, tax, legal, or Sharia advice.
Finatha does not move, hold, transmit, or have access to your money. All financial data in Finatha is information you enter manually for planning purposes only. Balances shown are those you have recorded, they are not connected to your actual bank or brokerage accounts.
Any calculations the Service produces (net worth, savings rate, payday allocation, EOSB estimates, zakat guidance, debt projections, currency comparisons) are illustrative estimates based on the information you provide and on common formulas or publicly available rules. They are not guarantees, advice, or any kind of professional opinion.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Finatha. By creating an account, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years of age and have full legal capacity to enter into a binding contract.
- You are using the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes.
- The information you enter is your own and is entered voluntarily.
- You are not a sanctioned person and are not located in a country or region that is the target of comprehensive trade sanctions imposed by the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
- You will comply with all laws applicable to your use of the Service, including the laws of your country of residence.
If you do not meet these requirements, you must not use the Service. We may decline or terminate access at our discretion where eligibility is not met.
4. Your account and security
You are responsible for the credentials you use to access Finatha (email link, password, social sign-in, or device key) and for all activity under your account.
- Choose a strong, unique password if you set one. Use a password manager.
- Enable multi-factor authentication where available.
- Tell us immediately at security@finatha.app if you suspect your account has been compromised.
- Do not share your account or sign-in link with anyone else.
You are responsible for the device and network you use to access the Service. We recommend keeping your operating system, browser, and the Finatha app up to date.
5. Acceptable use
Your use of Finatha is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, available at finatha.app/acceptable-use, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. In summary, you agree not to:
- Use Finatha for any unlawful purpose, including fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, terrorism financing, or tax evasion.
- Attempt to access another user's account or data, or attempt to identify other users.
- Upload malicious code, attempt to circumvent security controls, or reverse engineer the Service.
- Use Finatha on behalf of a third party without their knowledge and consent.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access or collect data from the Service.
- Attempt to manipulate, exploit, or interfere with AI features beyond their intended purpose.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach the Acceptable Use Policy, with or without notice depending on the severity.
6. Your data and content
You own the data and content you put into Finatha. We do not claim any ownership over the financial information you enter.
To operate the Service for you, you grant the Operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable licence to host, store, copy, display, transmit, and process your data and content solely as needed to provide the Service to you, to keep backups, to deliver support, and to comply with applicable law. This licence ends when your data is deleted from our systems.
You are responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness, and legitimacy of the data you enter. Finatha is only as useful as the information you provide it. If you upload data about other people (for example, a household member's income), you confirm you have the right to do so.
You may export or request deletion of your data through the product features we provide or by contacting privacy@finatha.app. Our Privacy Policy at finatha.app/privacy explains how we handle personal data.
7. Subscription, fees, and Merchant of Record
Some Finatha features require a paid subscription. Pricing, billing cycles, and feature inclusion are described at the point of purchase and in our Subscription Terms at finatha.app/subscription-terms.
Merchant of Record. Payments for Finatha subscriptions are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the Merchant of Record (MoR). This means Lemon Squeezy is the seller of record for your subscription, handles billing, calculates and remits applicable taxes (VAT, GST, sales tax) on our behalf, and is the entity that appears on your card statement. By subscribing, you also agree to Lemon Squeezy's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy in respect of the payment portion of the transaction. We do not see or store your full card details.
Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless you cancel before renewal. You may cancel any time from your account settings or by contacting support@finatha.app. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, you keep access until then.
Refunds. New subscribers are eligible for a 14-day money-back refund on their first purchase, requested by emailing support@finatha.app. Outside this window, payments are non-refundable except where required by law. EU and UK consumers have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services, which is described in section 25 below; by starting a paid subscription you agree this right is waived once the digital service is provided in full during that period.
Price changes. We may change subscription prices on at least 30 days' email notice. New prices apply at your next renewal. If you do not accept the change, cancel before renewal.
Failed payments. If a payment fails, we and Lemon Squeezy may retry. If the failure is not resolved within 14 days, paid features may be paused until payment is received.
8. Free trials and beta features
We may offer free trials and beta features. Free trials convert to paid subscriptions at the end of the trial period unless you cancel beforehand.
Beta features are clearly labelled and provided "as is", may change or be removed at any time, may have bugs, and have no service level commitment. Do not rely on beta features for any decision that matters.
9. Intellectual property
The Service, including the Finatha name, logos, brand, software, design, content, and documentation, is owned by the Operator and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for personal use.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works of the Service or any part of it, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or ideas about Finatha, you grant the Operator a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use them for any purpose without obligation to you.
"Finatha" and the Finatha logo are trademarks of the Operator. You may refer to Finatha by name to describe the Service, but may not use the marks in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership without our written consent.
10. Intellectual property takedown
If you believe that content on Finatha infringes your copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property right, send a notice to legal@finatha.app with:
- Your full name and contact details.
- A description of the work you say is being infringed.
- The location on Finatha of the allegedly infringing material.
- A statement, made in good faith, that you believe the use is not authorised by the owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and that you are authorised to act on behalf of the rights holder.
- Your signature (electronic is fine).
We will review notices promptly and may remove or disable access to the material in question. We may share the notice with the user who posted the material so they can respond. We will terminate the accounts of users found to be repeat infringers.
11. No financial, tax, legal, or Sharia advice
Everything in Finatha is for informational and educational purposes only. The Operator is not licensed or registered as a financial adviser, investment manager, broker, accountant, lawyer, or Sharia scholar in any jurisdiction.
In particular:
- EOSB calculations are illustrative estimates based on common formulas. They are not a legal opinion on your employment contract or on any country's labour law (including the Qatar Labour Law and the UAE Federal Labour Law). Always verify with your employer and a qualified accountant or labour lawyer.
- Zakat guidance is general guidance based on commonly accepted methods. It is not a fatwa, not issued by any Sharia board, and not a substitute for advice from a qualified scholar. Different schools of jurisprudence calculate zakat differently. You are responsible for the zakat you pay.
- Currency rates and remittance comparisons are illustrative only and may differ from rates you obtain from a real provider.
- Investment, savings, debt, and goal projections assume the inputs and assumptions you provide. Real outcomes will differ.
Before making any financial decision, consult a qualified professional licensed in your jurisdiction.
12. AI features
Finatha includes features that use generative AI (currently provided by OpenAI under their zero-retention API terms). When you use these features:
- Your prompt and a narrow context window of relevant inputs are sent to the AI provider for processing.
- Output is generated by an AI model and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. You must verify anything you act on.
- AI output is not advice. The disclaimers in section 11 apply with full force.
- We do not use your data to train AI models, and our AI provider's API terms prohibit training on inputs and outputs.
- You should not paste sensitive personal information into AI prompts beyond what the feature you are using genuinely needs.
You can opt out of AI features by simply not using them. Opting out does not affect the rest of the Service.
13. Third-party services
Finatha relies on third-party service providers. The current list, what each one processes, and the safeguards in place is published at finatha.app/sub-processors and is updated as we change providers.
Where you interact directly with a third party (for example, signing in with Google or Apple, paying through Lemon Squeezy), that third party's terms and privacy policy apply to your interaction with them. We are not responsible for third-party services beyond our reasonable contractual due diligence.
14. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy at finatha.app/privacy and our Cookie Policy at finatha.app/cookies are part of these Terms by reference. They explain what personal data we collect, why, the legal bases we rely on, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how to exercise your rights.
We do not sell or share personal data for advertising. We do not run advertising trackers.
15. Disclaimers
Service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, and uninterrupted operation.
No guarantee of accuracy. Calculations and outputs are illustrative. Inputs may be wrong, formulas may be simplified, laws and rates change. You are responsible for verifying anything that matters.
No guarantee of availability. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Planned maintenance, dependency outages, force majeure events, and unexpected issues may cause downtime.
No fiduciary or advisory relationship. Use of Finatha does not create a fiduciary, advisory, agency, partnership, employment, or trust relationship between you and the Operator.
16. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- The Operator's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms, whether in contract, tort, statute, or otherwise, will not exceed the greater of (a) one hundred US dollars (USD 100), or (b) the fees you paid to us (or to the Merchant of Record on our behalf) in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
- The Operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including lost profits, lost savings, lost opportunities, lost goodwill, lost or corrupted data, or substitute service costs, even if advised of the possibility of those damages.
- These limitations apply even if any limited remedy fails of its essential purpose.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: (i) gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud; (ii) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (iii) any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including statutory consumer rights in the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the State of Qatar.
17. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Operator and its officers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
- Your unlawful or infringing use of the Service.
- Content you submit that violates the rights of any third party.
We will give you prompt notice of any claim, allow you to control the defence (with our right to participate at our cost), and reasonably co-operate.
18. Force majeure
Neither party will be liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, civil unrest, epidemics, government action, sanctions, internet or hosting outages, or failures of upstream service providers.
19. Suspension and termination
By you. You may delete your account at any time through Finatha support or in-app settings. Deletion is permanent. We will remove your financial data from our active systems within 30 days, with backups rotating out within a further 30 days. Statutory record-keeping obligations may require us to retain limited information beyond that period.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, if your activity creates legal, security, or operational risk, or if we are required to do so by law. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to cure. For serious breaches we may act immediately.
Effect of termination. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including IP, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution.
Data export. On termination by us for any reason other than serious breach, we will give you 30 days to export your data via in-app tools or by request to support@finatha.app, after which the data will be deleted.
20. Changes to the Service and to these Terms
We will keep developing the Service. We may add, change, or remove features. Where a change is to your material disadvantage, we will give reasonable notice.
We may update these Terms as the product and the law evolve. For material changes, we will notify you by email or in-app at least 14 days before they take effect. For non-material changes (typo fixes, clarifications), we may publish them with the new "last updated" date. The current version is always available at finatha.app/terms. If you do not agree to a change, your remedy is to stop using the Service and request deletion before the change takes effect.
21. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Qatar, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
If a dispute arises, the parties will first attempt to resolve it in good faith for 30 days from written notice. If unresolved, either party may refer the dispute to mediation under the Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (QICCA) Mediation Rules. If mediation does not resolve the dispute within 30 days, the dispute will be finally settled by arbitration administered by QICCA under its Arbitration Rules, by a sole arbitrator, seated in Doha, Qatar, conducted in English.
Small-claims and consumer carve-out. Notwithstanding the above, you may bring a claim that qualifies for a small-claims process in the courts of your country of residence, and EU and UK consumers retain the right to bring proceedings before the courts of their country of residence as required by law.
Class-action waiver. To the extent permitted by law, claims must be brought on an individual basis and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative action. If a court finds this waiver unenforceable, the rest of this section remains in effect.
Mandatory consumer rights. Nothing in this section overrides any consumer right that cannot be waived under your local law.
22. Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms in whole or in part, including to a successor entity (in particular, the Finatha company on incorporation) or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, on notice to you.
23. Miscellaneous
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Acceptable Use Policy, Sub-processors page, Subscription Terms, and any document expressly incorporated, are the entire agreement between you and the Operator regarding the Service.
No waiver. A failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
Severability. If any provision is held invalid, the rest of these Terms remain in effect.
Headings. Headings are for convenience only.
Notices. We may give notices by email to the address on your account, by in-app notification, or by posting on the Service. Notices to us must be in English to legal@finatha.app.
Language. These Terms are published in English and Arabic. If there is a conflict, the English version controls except where local law requires the language of your jurisdiction to prevail.
Independent contractors. The parties are independent contractors. Nothing in these Terms creates partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment.
Electronic acceptance. You agree these Terms may be accepted electronically and that records of acceptance may be kept in electronic form and used as evidence.
24. Mobile app addenda (Apple App Store, Google Play)
If you obtained the Finatha mobile app from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and the Operator only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- The licence is limited to use on Apple-branded products that you own or control, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support.
- In the event of any failure to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- You and the Operator (not Apple) are responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product-liability and consumer-protection claims and intellectual-property claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms in respect of the Apple-distributed app, with the right to enforce them against you.
If you obtained the Finatha mobile app from Google Play, you also agree to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google has no responsibility for the app or its content.
25. Region-specific notices
European Union and EEA consumers. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA, mandatory rights under your local law are not affected by these Terms. You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from a paid subscription. By starting a paid subscription you expressly request immediate performance of the digital service and acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once we have begun performing the service in full during that period. The European Commission Online Dispute Resolution platform is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
United Kingdom consumers. UK consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the UK GDPR are unaffected.
California residents. Your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act are described in the Privacy Policy.
Qatar and GCC residents. Finatha is not a financial product within the meaning of any GCC financial-services regulation. EOSB and zakat features are tools for personal organisation only and are not opinions on labour law or fatwas.
Saudi Arabia. Use of Finatha must comply with Saudi laws. Zakat guidance is informational only and is not a substitute for advice from the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority or a qualified Sharia scholar.
